Don't Overlook...

Hi Friends!

Back again with a project for A Mixed Media Color Challenge!  I was inspired to make a tag.  If you'd like tag inspiration, please view Patty's blog(Creating with Paper and Bows), because she makes gorgeous vintage tags!  I rarely make tags and thought it would be a great time to make one being that there are many tags in the inspiration photo.  And, such lovely colors this week, too!

Here is my tag...

A closer view...

I began my tag with black cardstock and painted cream cardstock with gray paint.  I didn't have gray paint, so I had to mix white and black paint.  I used the Prima background stamp(Julie Nutting) with flowers and text.  I mixed paint with modeling paste to make the circles for the center of the flowers.  The eye stamp was stamped with black Staz On ink and green and purple paint for her eye shadow.  Glitter was added to the eye shadow and center of the flowers.  A little heart charm was added to the bottom of the tag.  I placed a Tim Holtz button, ribbon, and twine to finish off the tag.

The tag speaks volumes to me.  I often worry about things in the past and future instead of just taking pleasure in the small joys in the present.  I need to carry this tag with me and look at it often.:-)  Isn't it easy to look in the past or to the future instead of just taking a big breath and enjoying the small things right in front of us?:-)  I like the phrase...take time to smell the flowers...

Well, I thank you so much for dropping by today!  You are a blessing, thank you!  Enjoy your weekend, hugs!

Boo!

Hi there!

Happy Friday to you!  Just popping in quick to show you another Halloween card.  I'm entering this card over at Simon Says Stamp Challenge.

I couldn't resist picking up a new Inkadinkado stamp.  It's in the background behind the chipboard black cat.  I thought it looked vintage and very pretty.  I added black lace from Martha Stewart.  The border punch I used is from  EK.  The little tag was stamped, which is from the stamp set Too Cute to Spook from Paper Sweeties.  Twine, pearl cotton, and gems to finish off the card.

Ok, that's all for now.  I have to scoot and run some errands.  I hope to get into my craft room and play some more this weekend.  Take care!  See you soon, hugs!

Got Candy?

Hi Friends!

How are you doing on this fall day?  It's a sunny day here, but there is that chill in the air.  Soon the leaves will change in color and trick or treaters will be ringing that door bell wanting some candy!  I was busy in my craft room over the weekend making some Halloween cards.  I'm going to give the above card to my hair stylist today.  Her name just happens to be Candy!  And, just as her name implies she is a sweetie!  I hope she likes it!:-)

I started my card with a black card base and layered it with white and some fun Doodlebug paper.  It is my new obsession!  I love the bright colors and fun prints.  The sprinkles, washi tape, and candy stickers are from Doodlebug, also.  The green washi tape is from Recollections.  The stamp I used is from Paper Sweeties.  It is from the stamp set, Too Cute to Spook.  I took my white gel pen and traced around the candy stickers and scalloped oval.  I had some black ribbon in my stash and tied it in bows for the finishing touch.

Also, just a reminder next month is ...

You're the Pick of the Patch!

Hi Friends!

I'm back again today with a second post!  It's good to have a long weekend and an extra day to play in my craft room.  I saw the darling inspiration photo over at The Shabby Tea Room and thought I'd play along.  We were to use neutral colors and twine.  Easy enough, huh?  And, those pumpkins are so CUTE!

Here is the card that I came up with...

I used a kraft card base.  I embossed the top and bottom of the card using a stamp from Paper Sweeties(Borders).  A doily, glitter circle, and pumpkins for the focal point.  The pumpkin stems were colored with copics and embossed with polka dots.  They were fussy cut and adhered with pop dots.  The sentiment is also from Paper Sweeties using the stamp set Sweeties Wagon.  To top the card off, I used lovely Paper Sweeties ribbon(Vintage Winter White).  And, a Tim Holtz button with twine to "pretty" up my card.

Ok, friends that's all for now.  Have a great day, hugs!

Happy Birthday!

Hi there!

Just popping in quick with a card for Dynamic Duos!  Such pretty colors this week for the challenge....

I started with a cream colored card base and paired it with the challenge colors.  The flowers were stamped in green and then yellow with the SU(Reason to Smile) stamp set.  They were fussy cut and leaves punched and placed to the sides.  Big yellow buttons were attached to the flowers with twine.  A border attached before sewing the panels and pearls added.  The sentiment is from the SU(Memorable Moments) stamp set.  And the card could not be completed until the final touch with ribbon Paper Sweeties, which is Primrose Cookie Dough!

Thank you for dropping by!  Take care and have a wonderful week, hugs!

Paper Sweeties September Release Rewind...

Hi there!

Today is September Release Rewind for Paper Sweeties!  I tell you I had so much FUN making this little project for my niece, Sophia!  This special little felt purse with the interchangeable sweeties and tags is going out in the mail for her birthday!

I bought the purse at Hobby Lobby on clearance for only $2.  I sewed a clear plastic panel on all three sides and left the top open to tuck in little Sophie.  Ribbon was glued to the sides of the clear panel.  The other sweeties, which are Emma and Abigail were paper pieced, also.  Sweet Cuts dies were used for the girls.  And, I just LOVE the sweet cuts, which make it so much easier than fussy cutting!  These dies are now available for purchase!:-)  And, for your shopping pleasure you can purchase bundles for wonderful savings!  For Sophie's outfit I used the stamp set, You are Special  Little Emma on the left is wearing the outfit from the stamp set, Live, Love, Grow.  And, Abigail on the right is in the outfit from the stamp set, Enjoy Your Day.  Felt flowers were die cut and glitter brads placed in the centers.  Little felt hearts with gems for added interest.  The tags are from the Little Wishes stamp set.  For the final touch I added ribbon and brad to the strap.

Paper Sweeties September Release Day!

Hi there!

Today is September Release Day for Paper Sweeties!  Hasn't this been a fun September Release?  And, Debbie designs such lovely frames, don't you think?  I am highlighting one of those gorgeous frames as seen above.  And, just to help you out if you are a big fan of them, here is a list of the frames that are available from Paper Sweeties...

And, for today's card I used the stamp set Happy Wishes!  I started with a cream card base and layered with paper from Echo Park.  I colored the flowers with my blender pen and Calypso Coral ink from SU.    I used a colored pencil for the center of the frame.  The center of the roses and leaves were colored with copic markers.  I should have colored the flowers and leaves with colored pencils, so I tried to soften it up with glitter and pearls.  I punched borders for the sides of the card.  Ribbon, flowers, and twine were placed to finish off the card.  Please stay tuned for Release Rewind tomorrow.  Thanks so much for taking a peek here today, hugs!

I just had to get out some lovely Prima paper for the gorgeous Life is a Special Occasion stamp as seen above.  A very elegant carriage fit for a princess!  I stamped the sentiment inside the carriage and added pearls and glitter.  In the corners I placed buttons with twine and pearls.  More glitter was added to the centers of the flowers.  The Oatmeal Cream and Paradise Aqua Mist ribbon is from Paper Sweeties, also!  I just love the seam binding ribbon!  It comes in fifteen different yummy colors and it is so affordable!

Paper Sweeties Sept. Pre-Release Day 1!

Hi there!

As promised, I'm back again with a darling Sweet Cut!  I used one of the sweet cut dies that is now available for Emma, Sophie, Abigail, and Jake!  And, for your shopping pleasure you can purchase a bundle package for 20% savings...yeah!  Today I used the lady bug outfit for Emma, which will be available on September 15th!  Her outfit is from the stamp set, Cute as a Bug.  I stamped the sweet sentiment onto her hat, because I think she is just too CUTE!  The border stamp is from this set, also.  I doodled around the sentiment so as to match the border stamp.  The butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch.  I colored Emma with copics.  Gems, ribbon, flower, and twine to finish off the card.

Happy Halloween!

Boo!

Are you doing any projects for Halloween?  I know it's a  little early, but I thought I'd make a Halloween project for A Mixed Media Color Challenge.  The colors we were to follow are orange, yellow, kraft/brown...

For my project I started with a canvas and applied gesso.  I tore paper and adhered it to the canvas with decoupage finish.  Brown acrylic paint was brushed over the entire canvas.  A Tim Holtz stamp with black ink along the top and bottom.  Spider webs were stamped and spiders adhered.  I used a stencil designed by Mona Pendleton(Graduated Dots) sold in the shop at My Favorite Things.  I used modeling paste mixed with yellow paint(small dots) and orange paint(larger dots) in the top and bottom corners.  I also used modeling paste on the wooden leaves and took my craft knife and made lines.  I let them dry over night and then applied orange paint on the yellow leaves.  I really love the texture and how the orange paint picked up the lines for great dimension.  I added black lace and gems to the damask paper pieces along the left side.  I made the focal point with black chipboard and painted the edges white.  I applied burlap, cheese cloth, a die cut with edges distressed in black.  A little black cat adhered.  Ribbon, button, and twine to finish off my Halloween canvas.

Ok, friends, that's all for now!  I can't wait to see your Halloween projects!  Take care and have a great week, hugs!

Because I care...

Hi Again!

As promised I'm back again with another post.  I'm entering this card over at Colour Q Challenge.  I was in need of a card for someone who needs a little cheering up, so I came up with the above card.  We were to follow these lovely colors...

And, aren't those the most colorful boots?  They are too CUTE!  My card was fairly simple by starting with a white card base.  I layered the colors and stamped the lovely image on white.  I got out my blender pen and colored in the flowers and added gems.  Pearl cotton tied in a bow applied to "pretty up" the vase.  A border added with gems along the bottom.  A heart fussy cut and popped up for dimension next to the sentiment.

Thank you for viewing my card today!  Hope you have a wonderful week, hugs!

Hi there!

I followed the left vertical column.  I started with a brown card base and added cream and green.  I used Paper Smooches dies for the trees and leaves.  The papers used for the trees and leaves are from Doodlebug and Authentique.  The darling little owl and sprinkles are from Doodlebug, also.  The awesome sentiment is from Paper Sweeties using the stamp set Sweeties Wagon!

We should have great color this year with the fall foliage since we've had plenty of rain over the summer.  I can hardly wait to see all the beautiful colors!  Thanks for dropping by, friends!  Stay tuned for I have one more card to post today.

New Home...Sweet Baby

Hi there!

Hope all of you in the states are enjoying a very relaxing Labor Day weekend!  We are just having a quiet weekend and doing things around the house.  As I'm typing this, my husband is getting my fall decorations from the attic.  It's time to bring out the pumpkins and decorate!:-)

Last night I stayed up late and did some cleaning and organizing in my craft room.  Isn't it fun to find things that have been neglected?:-)  So, I put these alphas to good use on this card for our friends who recently moved.  I got out my Doodlebug paper again, which was used recently on my owl card.  I couldn't resist using it for it has those cute colorful houses on it.  I added a border stamp from Paper Sweeties from the stamp set Borders.  I knew the card needed a little more something.  I tried little leaves, but they were too much of a distraction.  The border stamp was just what it needed for the final touch.

My next card is for my niece who is due with her little boy, Jax, in October.  Her baby shower is next weekend.  I'm looking forward to seeing her and little Gabriel.  They live in Phoenix, so it's not often that we see them.

For my card I got out a stamp set that I haven't used in awhile from Pink Persimmon.  It's a sweet little set.  I tried my best to keep it soft and light.  I'm still not sure I like it as well as other baby cards that I've done.  But, I do like the little clothes on the clothes line.:-)  The card was simple to put together with banners, twine, and pearls.  Just a tad of stitching at the top of the banners for added interest.

Ok, friends that's all for now.  Thanks so much for dropping by, hugs!

School Days...

Hey Friends!

It's time again for the Paper Sweeties Sketch Inspiration Challenge!  School started last Tuesday here in town.  So I went with a school theme for my card.  School buses will be running and children will be walking to school.  It's time to be aware and keep a special look out for those little ones crossing the streets.:-)

Here is my card for this month's challenge...

I started with a red Bazzill card stock base and layered it with black and more Bazzill from their new Nordic Pines release.  I colored and paper pieced the sweet Sophie image.  Her little outfit, sentiment, and books are from the stamp set So Proud of You.  I popped her up against a MME sticker label.  I used chalk to draw the stars and numbers.  I highlighted the math book and added twine.  Black pearls were added to finish off the card. This card will be going out to my sweet little niece, Sophia.  Below is a photo of Sophia and her brother, Grayson.

There is some very exciting news to tell you about Paper Sweeties!!!  Debbie is now offering Sweet Cuts for the the Sweeties, which are Abigail, Emma, Jake, and Sophie!!! If you love cutting dies instead of snipping with the scissors, you will love this wonderful new addition!  Also, please note that bundle packages are available for 20% savings!:-) Here is a photo of where the cut line will be for the die...

I didn't use the die on the above card, because I am anxiously awaiting for them by mail.  But, you will see it used on my next card for the pre-release on September 13th.  So, please stay tuned!

As stated above, the card was made for my sweet little niece, Sophia.  She lives in Tennessee, so we don't see her or her brother, Grayson too often.  But, they came up last fall for a visit and we had a great time visiting!  Here is the photo...

Aren't they little CUTIES!!!:-)  Ok, friends, that's all for now.  Thank you so much for dropping by!  Take care, hugs!
