Let's Celebrate!

The darling inspiration photo!
Another view.
I learned a very valuable tip on Sherry Cheever's blog on how to color seam binding.  Just click on tutorials at the top of her blog and you will find the video.  She has many tutorials.  She's an amazing creative lady!

So, I couldn't resist making a card for the City Crafter Challenge.  We were to make a project using a dress form or dress.  Isn't that an adorable little girl all dressed up in the inspiration photo?!  I paper pieced the dresses and added belts.  I braided the pink belt with pearl cotton and gold thread.  For the yellow dress, I folded wide ribbon in half and tied pearl cotton in the center.  I inked  edges with tea dye ink.  Ok, want another tip?  Well, of course ya do!:-)  I didn't have any yellow pearls, so I used a pale pink pearl and used my yellow copic marker to color it yellow.  I tell ya those copic markers are the best!  I wish I could remember where I learned that little trick from, but sorry I don't recall.

I hope you all are enjoying your holiday weekend!  It is a good day today to stay indoors and do some cleaning.  We had a big temperature drop today.  It's only 61 F degrees and cloudy.  Last night we enjoyed the cooler weather and kept warm around the camp fire.  We used to go camping quite a bit, but sold our camper a few years ago.  But, one of the fun things we always enjoyed was sitting around the camp fire and making cherry pies.  We made cherry pies last night and they were so yummy!  We even saw a few fireworks off in the distance where apparently people were celebrating.  A holiday weekend is a celebration to me!:-)  Ok, I think I wrote a book here.  And, I need to scoot to get some things done.  Take care and thanks so much for visiting, hugs!!:-))

  14. Hi Maria! I am glad you popped by this morning. I see I have some catching up to do at your blog...you've been a busy crafter. :)

This dress pattern card is neat, and I love the seam binding (hand dyed) to go along with the theme. Even the measuring tape (prop!) in front of the card is terrific!
