Celebrate!

Hi there!

How are you doing today?  I managed to have some fun creative time for one of my favorite challenges over at The Shabby Tea Room!  I made the above card following this lovely inspiration photo...

We were to use the colors in the photo and a fabric element.  I chose to use muslin for my fabric.  The muslin is used behind the polka dot layer on the focal point.  I also used it with the ribbon treatment in the left hand corner.  Those cozy blankets/comforters look so warm and inviting!  I could use one of those today and just relax and sip my coffee in my living room chair with a good book.  But, oh well, maybe another day.  For the weekend started out great and went down hill fast.  Whew!  Oh well, things are getting back on track and life goes on.:-)

Anyways, I started with a pink card base and added Pink Paislee and My Mind's Eye papers.  The sentiment is from Paper Sweeties using the stamp set, Beautiful!  I've used this stamp set often for my projects.  It has several wonderful sentiments with sweet labels, too!  I used Spellbinder dies and a gem flower from BoBunny.  The resin flowers are from SU.  A Martha Stewart butterfly punch was used for the butterflies.  The ribbon is from Paper Sweeties, also.  Such fab reasonable ribbon in so many colors.  I chose Rose Petal Cupcake ribbon and topped it off with twine and a resin flower.  OK, I better scoot here for now.  Thanks so much for dropping by.  I really appreciate it!  Take care, hugs!

Paradise...

Happy Friday!

I'm just popping in to share with you a card I made for my sister's birthday.  I hope all is well with you!  I just love this stamp that I recently purchased from Sweet n' Sassy.  The image is a perfect
paradise of relaxation.  My sister has a cottage on the lake and enjoys her time of watching the sea gulls and the beautiful boats on the water.

I wanted the card to have a soft feel to it so I stamped the image with crumb cake ink from SU.  I then used my blender pen to fill in the image.  I added stickles to highlight the waves.  Twine and pearls were added for the final touch.  Well, that's it from me for now.  I may work on another card or two this weekend.  Thank you very much for stopping by today.  It's appreciated!  Take care, hugs!

Celebrate Your Day!

Happy Friday!

Yeah!  It's Friday once again and I'm done with laundry and house cleaning, so it's time to play in my craft room!  I hope all is well your way today!  I had a chance to make this CAS style card and I'm entering it over at City Crafter.  Here is the inspiration photo we were to follow...

The challenge called for CAS style with neutral colors.  I began with a kraft card base, which I brushed with white acrylic paint.  I thought I could keep this card on hand for a masculine birthday.  I used some fun Crate paper with numbers on it behind the wooden Prima owls and bird.  Aren't they sweet!  I wanted to give them eyes, but it just didn't look right.  So, keeping with the simple and natural look was a good idea for this card.  I embossed the two panels for the wood grain look.  The sentiment is from Paper Sweeties.  And, wooden buttons with twine were added to finish off the card.  Well, that's my little simple card for today.  I don't make too many, but I know that I need more practice with them.  Ok, you take care and have a great weekend, hugs!

Ink:  SU(Soft Suede)
Paint:  White Acrylic(Americana)

Inspire, Believe, Thankful!

Hi Friends!

This is my second post for the day.  You can scroll down and see the colorful birthday card I made for my nephew.  But, for this post I want to share with you a mini album cover that I made using the mixed media technique!  I'm entering this project over at A Mixed Media Color Challenge!  It is their very first challenge started by Mona Pendleton and Sue Lelli!  I have seen their mixed media creations for quite awhile.  I have not taken the plunge until now!  So, in my craft room last night I started and created my very first mixed media project...yeah...finally I did it!:-)  And, I had lots of fun!  At first I thought, ut oh...this looks strange to me.  Maybe, it still looks strange...I don't know...hehehe!  But, I like it for my first try!  For the challenge we were to use at least two types of mediums, which could be paints, markers, pastes, mists, inks, etc.  Here are the colors we were to follow...

I started with black acrylic paint and painted the cover.  I then brushed over the black with white acrylic paint.  I placed dictionary paper for a frame and pink tissue paper for a banner.  I used Tim Holtz circle and grid stamps and stamped over the paper and paint.
Maya Road pink burlap trim for the flower.  I added clear buttons along the lower left, edges of the banner, and center of the flower.  The flower and buttons were glittered with stickles for interest.  I used a gray copic marker to color the grids.  Mod podge was brushed over all to help seal everything.  Sentiments from Beautiful stamp set from Paper Sweeties were in placed in the right lower corner.  And, the sentiment from Live Love Grow(Paper Sweeties) was placed in the left corner.  I used those sentiments because Mona and Sue have greatly inspired me to try a mixed media project!  I finally believed I could do it and I am thankful to them for giving such wonderful tutorials!  My final media that I used was the modeling paste.  Many use fiber paste, but I started with this paste.  I'm sure as I progress with this great technique I will purchase more items.:-)  Shhh...don't let my husband hear that...hehehe!  He says I don't have enough room now for all my hobby items!:-)

Ohhh, what a long post I have here.  If you're still with me, thank you so much!  But, I do want to encourage you to try this great creative technique.  Have your tissues/wipes handy for those messy fingers.  But, clean up is easy!  And, the process is so FUN!  Thank you for dropping by today!  Take care and have a great weekend, hugs!

Supplies:

Mini Album:  K&Company
Acrylic paints:  Jo-Ann Fabric(black, white)

Happy Birthday!

Hi there!

You having a great weekend so far?  Today is a lovely sunny summer day!  I need to be outside trimming and pulling weeds while my husband is mowing the lawn.  But, I wanted to get a couple of projects posted here before I go out to one of my least favorite jobs...pulling weeds...grrr!:-)

Anyways, my great nephew's birthday is next week, so I thought I'd make him this card with colorful balloons.  The sweet little guy is turning 6!  They live in Arizona, so we don't get to see him very often.  With this card I used BoBunny papers.  The sentiment is from PTI and the number 6 is SU.  The scalloped border die is used is from MFT.  The brads are from my stash and the ribbon from Jo-Ann Fabric.  A quick and easy card for my little nephew.

Thanks so much for visiting here today!  Hope you have a wonderful weekend, hugs!

Smile...

Hi there!

How's it going with you in your part of the world?  I hope all is going well and that you are having fun with you crafting projects!  I managed to get some more crafting done last night and came up with this card for the challenge over at Dynamic Duos
Here are the colors for the challenge....

I had lots of the blushing bride color on my card and bits of the soft suede color here and there.  I have two brown buttons and placed pink buttons with pearls over the buttons for added interest.  The paper is from my favorite MME(Sky's the Limit) paper pack..  I just love all the colors and sweet little birds with top hat in this line of paper!  I glittered up the little bird button with stickles and the flowers of the layered sticker.  A silk flower from my stash to pretty up the card.  The frame is from Melissa Frances and pearls were placed.  Seam binding, trim, and one special pink button in the center from my flea market shopping in Amish Country!  I had lots of fun making up this card for the challenge!  I was very inspired with all the amazing cards from the design team and cards entered for the challenge!

OK, friends, it's back to work for me for the next three days, but I so enjoyed all my time off this past week!  Maybe, I'll find time to create again at the end of the week.  Until then, take good care and thank you so much for dropping by today, hugs!

Happy Birthday!

Hi Friends!

Are you having a great Sunday today?  I certainly hope that you are!  It's a perfect sunny day here in NW Ohio!  It's in the 70's.  Yesterday it was a tad chilly, but warmer weather today and for the rest of the week.  It's a lovely day to walk around and enjoy the beautiful flowers...

Here are a couple of photos that I took of my pretty roses...

Now regarding my card....

It is just a card I wanted to have on hand for any upcoming birthday.  The paper is from DCWV(Butterfly Garden Stack).  I know I don't need anymore paper, but when I saw this paper I couldn't resist.  Plus, the added bonus was that it was on sale!  I love how the gold polka dot background and border shine!  Anyways, the card was very simple as you can see.  The stamp, ink, ribbon, and button are from SU.  The twine is from PTI.  Another easy peasy card for my stash...yeah!

Ok, that's all for now.  I just might be back later tonight or tomorrow with another card!  Take care and thanks so much for dropping by, hugs!

Congrats, Grad!

Hi there!

How's it going with you, friends?  Today turned a bit chilly and looks like it could rain at any minute.  But, yesterday was a great sunshine filled day with shopping and fun in Amish country.  My husband took a week's vacation and I only had to work one day this week.  Usually I work three ten-hour days, but my boss let me off for good behavior...hehehe!  And, wouldn't ya know it.  No pics from Amish country 'cause I forgot my camera and forgot to charge my phone...grrr!  Oh well, next time I'll get some Amish pics for ya!

Anyways, onto my grad card here.  I made up this quick card for a friend's daughter who recently graduated.  It was so super easy.  My friend gave me those epoxy stickers, so I just added some red squares behind the stickers for interest.  I used an EK punch for behind the circle and grad sticker.  I added twine and there ya go an easy peasy grad card!

Thank you for viewing my card today!  Hope you're having fun in your craft room!  Take care, hugs!

Paper Sweeties Pre-Release Day 1!!!

Hi there!

Today I want to share with you a card I created for PaperSweeties!  Debbie designed some fabulous stamps this month celebrating, LOVE.  These stamps can be used for weddings, anniversaries, engagements, vow renewals, etc.  Just look at that gorgeous label!  And, of course, look at the beautiful Sophie!  What do you think?  Isn't she elegant in her stunning wedding dress!  I used the new June stamp sets, Faith Hope Love(dress), Wedding Day(sentiment), and Best Wishes(Label), which will be available on June 4th!

I began creating my card using a white card base and embossed the pink background.  I used a MFT die for the scalloped border.  I colored Sophie with copics and paper pieced her gown.  Snippets of lace were added for her veil and gown.  I crocheted the white flower and layered it.  Small pink roses were placed along with pearls.  This card reminds me of my wedding since the bridesmaids wore pink dresses.  And, I had a June wedding, too!  How many of you were married in June?  If so, Happy Anniversary to you!

Ok, that's all for now, but please stay tuned for tomorrow I have another LOVE themed card to show you!  Take care, hugs!
