Dream, Dance, Live!

Hi there!

This isn't a busy work week for me, so I'm able to get into my craft room more often.  I made two cards for a couple of co-workers who took jobs elsewhere...sigh!  We will dearly miss them.  But, they have a new opportunity that couldn't be passed up.  They will both be working together and I'm sure they will do very well at their new jobs!  The first card that I'm posting is for Anna.  She is a very lively nurse with a great sense of humor.  She dares to be different and pushes the envelope...hehehe!  But, she's very efficient and has made several improvements for our department.  So, with all that being said...here is her card...

I started with a white card base and layered with light blue and green.  Anna loves the color green, so I had to incorporate it.  I think this card describes her well.  She wouldn't go for a pink flowery card at all...lol!  I painted the rainbow with water color paints on watercolor paper and after drying added the glittery word stickers.  And, there you have it, a simple CAS card!  I'm entering this card over at Fab Friday.

Susie was our surgery tech.  A very easy going sweet gal.  She loves bright colors and flowers.  Here is the card that I made for her...

I started with a white card base and layered with purple and again with white.  The flowers, sentiment and ribbon are from SU.  The butterfly is from Sweet 'n Sassy.  I colored the butterfly and flowers with copics.  And, the pearls are from Doodlebug.  Also, I'm entering this card over at Fab Friday.

I will certainly miss my co-workers, but I'm sure we will all get together some time for dinner as we do with previous co-workers.

Thank you for dropping by!  Have a wonderful day!

Hugs,
Maria

Paper Sweeties March Release Rewind!

Hi there!

Welcome to Paper Sweeties Release Rewind!  Today I'm sharing with you a project highlighting a previously released stamp set called Borders.  This stamp set has six lovely border stamps that you can use on cards and/or projects.

I started with paper mache eggs and cut strips of paper and adhered with decoupage finish.  After the finish dried, I sprayed the eggs with perfect pearls mist to give them a bright shine.  I stamped a border image onto a strip of muslin.  I colored the center of the flowers with copics for the yellow egg.  Pearls and flowers were added.  Paper Sweeties ribbon of Primrose Cookie Dough, Vintage Winter White, and Creamsicle with twine added to the top of the egg.  My Easter project is now sitting on my dining room table.  I have just a few Easter decorations out at this time.  I need to nudge my husband to get up into the attic to bring more down.  And, yes...sigh...I got into the Easter candy...lol!  Mmmm...those Reece's little peanut butter cups are the best!:-)

Ok, friends, thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed the projects for this month!  Have fun buying those new Easter stamps/dies.  Please follow the list and hop along to see some wonderful creations from my fellow team members!

Copic Colored Images...

Hi, Friends!

Just popping in quick to show you some copic colored images from the classes I took last weekend.  Lori Craig taught the class in Columbus, Ohio.  And, she did a fabulous job!  She is so patient and kind!  I was on cloud nine after I finished the class!

We did a couple of bear images and I really enjoyed coloring those little bears.  I have a couple bear stamps, so I'll have to get them out and make some baby cards.  The focus was to keep in mind where the light source is and shade accordingly with your colors.  So, you can see the right side of the face on the girl bear is much lighter where the light is shining on her.

We practiced on trees with spherical and cone shape.  The idea was to follow the shape with the shading.

Hair coloring technique was taught.  I do like the first hair sample.  The second sample with black hair is OK, but I feel I need more practice.  Practice makes perfect, right?:-)

You still with me?  The last copic image I colored is of the Polynesian girl.  Hair and skin with shading was done on this lovely image with several markers.  You can notice the shading on the right side of the face where there is less light.  Also, the shading for the nose and eye lids.  I was quite pleased how she turned out....

Thank you for viewing my copic colored images today!
It was so well worth taking the class!  I learned a lot about copic coloring and design!  Now I can't wait to receive more copic markers that I recently purchased...hehehe!

Copic markers used for the Polynesian girl:

Skin:  E00, E02, E11, E13, E04, BV000
Lips:  R21, R24, R29, R59
Eyes:  B00, B02
Flower:  R81, R83, R85, R59

Happy Easter!

Hi there,

I thought I'd try another watercolor card for  Virginia's View Challenge.  I picked up a watercolor set and got to work.  And, here is my card...

I used a Tim Holtz stencil for the background.  I colored the chick image with copics.  I punched out some birds and leaves.  Gems were added.  The sentiment is from Verve and the ribbon is from Flourishes.  My little Easter scene pretty much took away the focus of the watercolor.  My brain went a little vintage, I guess...lol.  So, I'm not sure it all ties in well together or not.  But, there you have it...my watercolor Easter card.

Thanks for dropping by!  Have a great day, hugs!

Happy Birthday!

Hi there, friends!

How's your weekend?  I had a fabulous weekend away filled with learning and lots of coloring with my copic markers!  I met two sweet ladies who sat beside me during both days...Michelle and Helen.  Lori Craig taught the class.  She was amazing and so patient!  I colored a santa at one point, but didn't want her to see it.  I said, "Sorry, I failed...lol"!  She said, "You'll get it...keep practicing."  By the next day, it just seemed to come all together, and I was quite pleased with some of my colored images.  I will post some photos soon.  I think I improved with my coloring skills.  And, I know I'll need lots more coloring to practice...great fun!

But, first I want to share with you a quick card I made for my sis-in-law's birthday.  I recently purchased the Bigger Blooms stamp set from PTI.  I love how it makes a wonderful background with the various flowers.  So, I was looking at my card and thought...hmmm...does it need some glitter?  Well, uh-huh...I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I added glitter to the center of the flowers.

So, what do you think?  Do you prefer the first or second card?  I believe I prefer the first card.  Oh well, I'm just going to have to hide my glitter...lol!  Ok, that's all for now.  I thank you so much for always leaving such sweet comments and supporting me and my blog!  Take care, hugs!

Hoppy Easter!

Hi there!

Have you tried the popular watercoloring technique yet?  Well, Virginia started a new fun challenge over at Virginia's View Challenge!  And, the theme this week is watercoloring.  I've seen so many awesome cards out there in blog land featuring this technique, so I thought I'd give it a try!

Here is my card...

I started out with PTI card stock.  It does very well handling the ink and water.  I will try to use water color paper and water color paints next time.  But, in the meantime, my neglected distress inks were calling my name.  I sprayed my card stock with water and swiped the colors from my craft sheet.  I sprayed it with water again.  I hurried up the drying process with my heat gun.  I've seen this technique done by Jennifer McGuire.  The stamp set and sequins I used are from Paper Sweeties...Jelly Bean Time and Grape (sequins).  And, the distress inks I used are from Tim Holtz...dusty concord, worn lipstick, and broken china.

It was fun trying this new technique.  I'll be sure to try it again!  Thanks so much for dropping by!  Hope you have a great weekend, hugs!

Paper:  PTI, SU, Recollections

Sequins:  Paper Sweeties:  Grape

Paper Sweetie's March Inspiration Challenge #17-'Polka Dot Love'

Hi Friends!

It's time for another Paper Sweeties Inspiration Challenge!  Look at all those soft pretty colors in the photo.  Before you know it, it'll be time for Easter!

You have until the end of March to enter the challenge.  And, you can enter as many times as you wish.  Your inspiration can come from the photo and/or any of the colors.  The winner will receive a gift certificate for $20 and be invited to be guest designer for the following month.  So, friends, I cannot wait to see what you create for the challenge!

Here is what I came up with for the challenge for some inspiration...

I started with a white card base and layered with blue for the sky.  I colored Jake and Abigail with copics and used coordinating dies.  The clouds are from the stamp set Happy Fall Ya'll.  I added glitter and popped them up for dimension.  Jake's outfit and the little bunny are from the stamp set Hippity Hoppity.  Abigail's dress, basket, and sentiment is from the stamp set Jelly Bean Time.  And, the grass was made using Sweet Cuts-Thanks Snow Much.  More glitter was added to the bunny and Easter eggs.  Easter is later this year.  I'm so hoping that we have great weather on that day.  I'm so ready for some warm weather!

Please hop along for my fellow design team members have some wonderful creations!  Have fun!
