Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to you!

I am very grateful for you!  I thank all of you so much for your
sweet comments and awesome inspiration to me!  May
you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving!

I just want to share with you a card I made for a friend recently before
I scoot.  Today is a busy day, of course!  I have the pumpkin pies made.
My son wants to do the cooking this year, so I'm grateful he wants to make it easy
on us.    He lives two hours away and close to the airport where we will be flying out of for vacation tomorrow morning.  A family vacation to Vegas!
Usually we go to my sis-in-law's for Thanksgiving, but
this is how things were planned for the best this year.  We will stay home next year I'm sure!
And, things will be quiet on my blog until
12-1 with a Paper Sweeties post.  Ok...as promised here is a thank you
card I sent my friend, Nancy...

Paper is PTI, SU, and Simple Stories.  The doily punch is from Martha Stewart.  The
sentiment is from Paper Sweeties, Beautiful.  The jar stickers are from Sticko.
Snowflake punch is from EK.  Gems are from Darice.  Ok, that's all for now.  Wishing for
you a wonderful Thanksgiving...take care!

Hugs,
Maria

Merry Christmas!

Hi there!  Happy weekend to you!  Just thought I'd pop in quick before
I go outside to take care of plants that need tending to before more snow and
freezing weather comes.  We are having a heat wave today of 40's...hehehe!  So,
with the warmer weather I better take advantage of getting outdoors!:-)  All stamps
and paper are from SU, ribbon from Jo-Ann's, and gems are from Darice.  Ok, short and
quick post for now.  Hope you all have a great weekend.  Thanks so much for
 dropping by!

Hugs,
Maria

Merry Christmas!

Hi there!

Hope all is well with you!  And, I hope that you are staying warm wherever you are.  It certainly has turned cold suddenly.  I made a quick trip to the post office today and came straight back home into my warm house!  Brrrr...I'm not ready for this cold weather!  Anyways, I made a Christmas card to enter over at City Crafter Challenge.  The theme this week is to use a one word sentiment.  Easy peasy...and voila...here is my card...

I started with a cherry cobbler card base from SU.  I painted with an acrylic paint dabber from Ranger.  I think those are the big snowflakes that Buffalo, NY received recently...hehehe.  But, really all that snow cannot be a good thing when it affects people with their homes, etc.  My thoughts and prayers are with them. The die I used is from MFT and the paper is from Doodlebug.  I used gold stickles for the center of the snowflakes.  Well, that's all for now.  Thanks so much for dropping by!  Take care and stay warm!

Hugs,
Maria

Paper Sweeties November Release Rewind!

Welcome Back!

How do you like the *new* release so far?  Awesome new stamps/dies, right?  Today is Release Rewind to show you some new and previous released stamps/dies.  I made an upcycled gift can from a coffee can using the new stamp set Happy Holidays(Merry Christmas).  The snowflakes are from a previous released stamp set Snow Friends with coordinating die Sweet Cuts-Snow Friends.  And, the last stamp set used for the gift can is from a previously released set Banner Wishes (to:  from: )

For my project, I stamped Merry Christmas on white paper and then covered it with vellum.  I attached the tag with ribbon, yarn, holly.  The (black) Licorice seam binding ribbon is from Paper Sweeties.  The lid is decorated with a large snowflake from Hobby Lobby and a larger snowflake from Snow Friends.  Here is a photo of the lid...

Well, you know, I had so much fun with the tag for the gift can that I decided to make more tags.  And, they can be seen below...

The first three tags on top row and the first tag on the bottom row are made with the *new* stamp set Happy Holidays.  The wreath tag with sentiment in the first row is from the stamp set Season of Love.  Such a pretty wreath with sentiment, don't you think?  And, the darling angel tag was made using the stamp set Make the Season Bright with coordinating die Sweet Cuts-Make the Season Bright.  The twine and ribbon(seam binding)Licorice and Green Apple are from Paper Sweeties, also.  The twine is Green Apple and Strawberry.

Well, I must be on a tag making frenzy.  Because I made more tags...woohoo!

I just LOVE the darling snowman, which is from the stamp set Snow Friends.  And, I used the coordinating dies Sweet Cuts-Snow Friends.  The same twine and seam binding ribbon was used as seen on the first set of tags except for the aqua(Robin Egg) seam binding, which is from Paper Sweeties.  If you visit my blog often, you know that I do not make many tags.  But, I have to admit, it was lots of fun!

Hop along following the list below to see wonderful projects from the team!  You won't be disappointed!

Thank You...

Hi Friends!

I'm just popping in here quick to share with you a card I made for a sweet friend!  I know that she received the card, so I can now show you the above card.  I was lucky enough to win the lovely die from her blog giveaway.  She is very talented and gives me lots of inspiration.  You can find Brenda's lovely creations on her blog Benzi Stampz!  Thank you again, Brenda!

I made a fairly simple card for I wanted the die to shine on this thank you card.  The die(Spellbinders Die D-Lites) is very intricate and so pretty, don't you think?  Many of you may already know how to cut these intricate delicate dies.  I certainly have learned the hard way and am still learning!  So, I have a little tutorial for you today...

The key is to use the metal shim plate.  I purchased mine from MFT, but it is sold other places.  Here is a photo of the die placement...

1.  Regular base of your Sizzix platform for Big Shot die cutting machine.
(I also have the magnetic platform, which I think is too wide since it cuts too
deeply leaving it very difficult to get the paper removed from the die.  It has also
        cut where it shouldn't.)
2.  Acrylic plate over platform.
3.  Place the metal shim on platform.  Be careful for the edges are sharp.
4.  Place the die over the metal shim cut side up.
5.  Paper over the die.
5.  Acrylic plate over the paper.

And, to get all those little pieces of paper that were cut from the die I use this handy dandy tool.   So, one lucky winner will receive this wonderful tool...

I will announce the winner on  November 17th.  Ok, friends, that's all for now.  Take care and have a great week!

Hugs,
Maria

Painting...

Hi Friends!

I'm keeping busy this week on my vacation with painting.  Oh yeah...fun fun...hehehe!
I'd rather be creating in my craft room, but it will look great once it's all done.  We have the living room, dining room, hall way, and kitchen to paint.  And, the dog stepped in the paint tray only once so far...lol!  The hazards of having a pet, I guess.  And, he did it right after I took these pics.  I guess he wanted his pic taken, too.  I should have taken a pic of his painted paw, but we were frantic with the mishap needless to say!

Don't let the smiles on our faces fool ya.  We really aren't that happy...hehehe!  But, believe me we will be all smiles when it's all done!

Here is a pic of our front door that my son and hubby stained a couple months ago...

Well, that's all for now.  Sorry no cards or projects from me and I might not be around to your blogs for a bit.  But, I'll be back in action again soon!  Take care!

Hugs,
Maria

Dies R Us November Challenge (Team A)-"Thankful"

Hi there!

It's time once again for Dies R Us Challenge!  The theme this month for Team A is "Thankful"!

Ok, friends, get out those fab fun dies and make a project with the theme...thankful! What do you have to be thankful for?   You have until November 13th to enter.  The winner will receive a $10 gift certificate to the Dies R Us store!  So, come on over and join in on the fun!

For my card, I started with a tan card base.  It was then paired with cream and Carta Bella paper.  I used several different dies to create the fall scene.  Once in awhile, we will see deer behind us in the field.  It isn't too often, so we get very excited and I run for the camera.  And, more often than not, they are already gone before I can get a photo.  But, it's still great seeing them!  I added lace, ribbon, twine, pearls and pretty flowers to finish off my card.

The dies that I used on my card are listed below, which can be purchased at the Dies R Us Store.

Would you like more inspiration?  Check out some amazing creations from my fellow teammates...
