Celebrate 2012!

A fun and festive challenge going
on over at the The Shabby Tea Room!
To help us celebrate the new year
this is the inspiration photo we
were to follow!

Happy New Year!

Do you have big plans to celebrate the new year?  Whatever you do I hope you have a great time celebrating!  We are staying in and ringing in the new year in our warm cozy house.  May the new year bring in good health and happiness for you all!

Now on to my card.  I went with the bright colors in the photo.  The bright blue spoke to me.  And the red too, since one of my favorite colors is red.:-)  The card is pretty self-explanatory.  I added some dimensionals to pop out the "2012".  Colorful gems for the party theme.  And sewing to give some dimension.  I don't think I ever made a card to celebrate the new year, but it was very fun!  To make things even more fun, please stop by Melissa's blog at Keepsakes by Melissa to have a chance to win some awesome prizes...I mean AWESOME!!!  Melissa is super generous!  The chance to win is open until January 1st.

Thanks for taking a peek here today!  Have fun and stay safe while celebrating the new year!  Take care, hugs!!:-))

Love

The card design to follow for

Hi Friends!

Did you all have a wonderful holiday?  I certainly hope so.  We had a great time here with delicious food and family.  Whenever the food turns out well, especially the gravy, I breathe a big sigh of relief!  Anyways, Santa was very good to me this year with a few craft goodies, music, and jewelry.  I even got two gift certificates to Jo-Ann Fabrics.  I guess friends and family know what I like!:-)

Ok, on to my card.  I thought it would be an easy card to do.  And, it was until I decided to sew around the edge of the oval.  Well, needless to say, I need more practice doing it!  But, I'm glad I tried anyways.  Nothing ventured nothing gained.

I hope you have a wonderful week!  Have a safe and happy New Year!  Thanks so much for stopping by today, take care!

You're So Sweet

Inspiration photo...

Merry Christmas!

I needed to take time out from the hustle and bustle and make a card for one of my favorite challenges, The Shabby Tea Room.  And, I had fun doing it!:-)  This card is a thank you card for a friend.

How is your Christmas week going?  I have more wrapping to do.  I need to frost cookies for a Christmas party tonight.  And, I want to make chocolate covered pretzels within the next couple of days.  Wow, can you believe Christmas is nearly here?!

For my card, I first tore off a layer of cardboard and painted it with white paint for the gingerbread man.  I added brads, ribbon, and twine.  Clear buttons were colored with a red copic marker.  I shaped a silver pipe cleaner into a star.  I distressed the papers with tea dye ink.  Lovely flowers were added in the corner, trim, and sewing to finish off the card.  Thanks for stopping by today!  I'm wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas filled with peace, love, and joy!  Take care...hugs!!:-))

Christmas Wishes!

Merry Christmas!

Hope all is well with you!  I'm still doing some Christmas cards.  This one is for a friend who collects bears.  I just happened to come upon a tag with a bear on it and knew it would be for my friend, Peggi!  I added some red glitter to the berries and a few gems.  Ribbon, cord, and sewing to finish off the card.

We are off to my mother-in-law's tomorrow for the Christmas get-together.  I finished baking more sugar cookies this afternoon.  My husband told me enough with the goodies.  He said, "I've gained two pounds!"  But, I love baking at this time of year.  Anyways, I hope your holiday preparations are going well.  I still have a little shopping to do.  Take care and thanks so much for stopping by today, hugs!!:-))

Winter Wishes!

Hi Again!

This is my second post today.  I'm still plugging along with making some Christmas cards.  How are you doing on your holiday preparations?

I'm entering this card over at Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge.  It's pretty simple, but I really like the blue and silver together.  Also, the punch adds just enough for a decorative look.  The snowflake was placed on chip board and distressed on edges.  Liquid pearls were place around the snowflake.  Silver trim, thread, bow, and gems added to finish off the card.  Thank you for visiting...take care...hugs!

Hi Friends!

Just a quick post here today.  And, I'm hoping you all are doing well!  I'm so happy that the sun is shining!  We've had so much rain here lately...too much!  I'm tired of taking detours because of all the water on the roads!

Anyways, I just wanted to share this card I made for a friend.  And, am entering this card over at City Crafter Challenge.  The theme is "home" this week.  My friend and her husband recently bought a new house.  So, I wanted to make  a card and send it to her.  They have been busy painting and fixing up their new place.  Whew, the thought of moving especially during the holiday season would make one very busy!  The card is pretty self-explanatory.  The house and cloud are from Hero Arts.  The  sentiment, birds, and bird house are from PTI.  I used colored pencils for the coloring.  Dimensionals were placed behind the birds, cloud, and bird house.  I used chocolate ink from Close to My Heart.  Well, that's about it...take care and have a great day!  Thanks for visiting!

Pink Christmas!

Another lovely challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room!  This week
we are to use neutrals, pink, snowflakes, flowers, and gold!  And,
here is the lovely inspiration photo!

Hi there!

I could just stare at that lovely Christmas tree for hours!  My eyes focused on the pretty sheer ribbon and flowers.  I first painted a little wood bird and distressed it with tea dye ink.  I stamped snowflakes to the background paper and one on the bird.  Pearls were added.  I took a frame and covered it with musical paper and embossed it on the top and bottom.  Lace, ribbon, flowers were added to finish the card.

I'm on vacation this week and I feel that I'm already behind in Christmas preparations.  You know, the baking, card sending, shopping, wrapping, decorating...sigh.  Whew, I'm tired just thinking about it!  But, it'll get done in due time.:-)  Taking time out for these challenges are a welcome relief from all the hustle and bustle.  Card therapy is truly good therapy...hehehe!  Ok, I thank you for taking time out to stop by today!  Take care, relax and enjoy this holiday season, hugs!!:-))

Merry Christmas!

I thought I'd try a new challenge over at
Here is the lovely design photo we were to follow for the challenge.

Hi Friends!

Hope your weekend is going well!  This particular design photo caught my eye.  Many times I do not follow designs for I nearly always end up changing my card.  But, this card went together fairly easy.  I heat embossed the Christmas tree and inked up edges of paper.  I had a little trouble with the embossing powder.  I used a different type and it didn't adhere well at all.  So, I went looking in my stash and found the good stuff!:-)  I had fun with the punch, too!  I just love the elegant look of this particular punch.   Why not go over and check out the lovely creations from the design team.  You won't be disappointed!

Thanks so much for taking time to drop by today!  Take care and hugs!!:-))

Peace & Love

Wishing you peace and love this holiday season
 and all year through!

Hi Again!

I'm sending out warm wishes and praying for peace and love to you all this holiday season!  It can be very hectic at this time of the year.  So, I hope you can take time to enjoy your blessings and be surrounded with family and friends during this joyful season!

I'm entering this card for the Simon Says Stamp ChallengeI'm not sure if it'll be for a Christmas card or a birthday card.  I stamped the background and distressed it with tea dye ink.  Pearls were added along with a couple of flowers and leaves.  I couldn't resist the lovely angel in a frame for the focal point.

Well, I haven't gotten the Christmas tree up yet, but do have a few decorations here and there.  Time to get back to decorating.  Thanks for dropping by today!  Take care, hugs!

Winter Wishes

I couldn't resist this challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room!

So many gorgeous displays of inspiration from the design team.  I love every one of them!  I don't often use just white/cream/neutrals on a card, but I'm happy how this one turned out.  We were also to use silver and glitter...how fun!  I started with a different focal point in mind, but went with these lovely snowflakes. The snowflakes were placed on circle chipboard and dimensionals.  Silver liquid pearls were added around the edge and in the center.  Burlap and doily behind the center snowflake and silver frame encasing it.   And, speaking of snowflakes, we got some of the white stuff yesterday.  Uh huh, winter has arrived!

Here is the beautiful inspiration photo!
Looking at those ice skates bring back fun memories for me!

As children, we used to go to the park and ice skate.  Mom would have warm hot chocolate waiting for us when we returned home.  Whenever my husband or son snowblows the driveway, I have warm hot chocolate waiting for them.  The snow may be cold and blustery at times...brrrr....but isn't it fun to come back inside to a delicious warm hot chocolate...yummm!  I hope your winter is off to a good start.  May it be a safe and happy one!  Take care and thanks so much for stopping by, hugs!
