Happy Retirement!
Hi, Friends!
It's another hot day in the 90's here in NW Ohio...whew! I'll be happy when it cools down for the weekend! So, I'm inside with the comfort of air conditioning and doing one of my favorite things! You guessed it...making a card! I needed a card for a former co-worker who is retiring this week. Barb is certainly a sweetheart! We started out in Med Surgical together and she moved over to Pain Mgt. where I worked. We were thrilled to have her transfer! She is a hard worker and always willing to learn! She has become one of my very dear friends! Barb has dedicated her life working as a nurse for thirty-four years! Happy Retirement, Barb!:-)
For my card, I started with a white card base and distressed the background for the sky with Tim Holtz inks, which are broken china and tumbled glass. I colored Sophie with copics and die cut her with coordinated die Sweet Cuts-Sophie. Her outfit is from the stamp set Feel Better Soon. The sun is from the set Island Time and die cut with coordinating die Sweet Cuts-Island Time. The clouds were die cut using Sweet Cuts-Let's Go to the Beach The sentiments are from the set Happy Everything. For the stems of the sentiment I used the stems from the flowers of the set I Pick You. And, the white fence behind Sophie was die cut using Sweet Cuts-Home Tweet Home.
Well, that's all for now, friends! Hope you're having an awesome week...take care! Thanks so much for taking the time to drop by today!
Hugs,
Maria

Oh she will love this card, Maria! Love the sun, flowers spelling Happy & the scallops..& of course that adorable nurse! I still remember wearing my hat working in the hospital my first job! No regrets for how I spent those 40+ years, but I can confirm to Barb that retirement is fabulous! Don't think I'll be renewing my license, but we'll see. 1 day/month or less is still basically retired!
ReplyDeleteHello, my dear friend! I am attempting another return to crafting and commenting... it seems I only manage one week before pain sets in too deeply. It is frustrating, but I am thankful to be visiting you today. Your card is adorable and is a keepsake she will treasure! It is perfect for her. The flowers are a whimsical delight and this little cutie pie was tailor made for her. :o) Your scene is precious, as always. I always love your beautiful work, Maria. I have missed it greatly. Have a sparkly night, my friend. :o)
