So Sweet of You!

Hi there!

How's it going in your part of the world?  I had a chance to get crafty this afternoon and came up with the above card for one of my favorite card challenges.  So, I entered this card over at
The Shabby Tea RoomHere is the lovely inspiration photo we were to follow...

For this challenge we were to use the colors aqua, yellow, white/cream, and use twine.  I had just finished crocheting little white flowers with pearl cotton and thought I'd use them on this card.  I began the card with my favorite line of paper, My Mind's Eye.  I sewed on yellow buttons to the center of the flowers.  The center flower on the vase was stamped with glitter added.  I free hand drew the vase and added yellow twine behind it.  Pretty seam binding ribbon from Paper Sweeties!  The sweet sentiment is from Paper Sweeties, also!   Pearls and sewing were added to finish off the card.

Thank you for dropping by today!  Have a wonderful day, take care!

Baby Birds!!!

Hi there!

Just wanted to share with you today a photo of the cardinal baby birds that just hatched!  I can see two of the little precious sweeties.  There are five total eggs, so I believe there are three more to hatch yet.  I had a tough work day yesterday physically and emotionally, but that is expected in nursing.  So, I told myself I need something to make myself smile.  I'll go out and check on the baby birds!  And yes, there they were nestled in the nest together.  It just puts a big smile on my face!:-)

Another photo to share are my roses.  They are now starting to bloom.  I'll take more photos later when they are in full bloom.  I love roses!  Those sweet birds are just to the left of my roses.  Those little ones better be careful not to get hurt on the thorns from the rose bushes when they begin to fly!:-)  Here is a photo of the rose bush....

Ok, I'm beginning to think my blog is turning into a nature blog...hehehe!  But, that's OK, I should be back some time today or tomorrow with a project.  I've been working on my Paper Sweetie projects that you'll be able to view June 1st.  Please stay tuned for those projects!  Thank you for taking time to stop by today!  Take care and enjoy your day, hugs!

God Bless America!

Hi Friends!

Happy Memorial Day to you!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend!  We don't have any special plans today...maybe take in a movie later.  But, I am getting some cleaning done, which is not my favorite thing to do.  I'd rather be crafting!  I'll have some projects to show you very soon.

Anyways, I just wanted to say a "thank you" to all those that serve in the military to keep our country free! My father, father-in-law, husband, brother-in-law, and two of my nephews have served in the military.  And, I am very proud of them!  And, to all of my fellow Americans...men and women!  I thank you for your dedicated service!!!  God Bless America!!!  Take good care friends, hugs!

Happy Birthday!

Hi there,

This is my second post for today.  Please scroll down to view
photos of my first post done earlier today for a walk with me in my back yard!

I want to share with you the above card that I'm entering over at Dynamic Duos!  It's been awhile since I played with their challenge.  The challenge called for two colors of pacific point and basic black.  I just love that color of blue!  I often dressed my son in that color blue when he was young to bring out his beautiful blue eyes!:)

Anyways, I knew I wanted to start with the bright blue card base and layer with black and white.  The stamp set is from Stampin' Up.  Don't you just love those sweet hot air balloons?  I fussy cut them and popped them up on dimensionals and stamped the background with clouds.  I wanted to give the illusion that the hot air balloons were up in the air from the hillside. Pretty black pearls and twine were added to finish off the card.

Ok, friends, that's it for now.  Please take care and have a wonderful day!  Thanks so much for dropping by, hugs!

What's in my back yard...

Hi Friends!

How's the weather in your area?  Whew, I tell ya I went out with the dog this morn and it is steamy hot!  A few days ago it was only in the 60's and windy.  I'm sure many have the sang, just stick around five minutes and the weather will change, lol!  Anyways,  I'm calling all bird watchers.  The above bird was making a such fuss about my dog, Shadow, and I in the back yard.  I looked and saw a tiny baby one nearby.  They quickly went to the field and I didn't get a photo of the tiny baby bird, but did get this photo.  So, I'm just wondering what type of bird this is.  And, speaking of birds I was so excited when I saw this nest!

I thought...hmmm...what type of eggs are these.  I tell ya I'm certainly getting a nature lesson just by looking around in my back yard!:-)  I heard lots of chirping one morning and looked out my window!  And, what did I see...yesss...a cardinal!  I was happy dancing!  We've seen a male and female cardinal quite often in our yard. And, I am so happy to see them making a sweet little home in our back yard for their little ones!  I tell ya it makes me very happy since I was very sad when the robin's eggs did not make it.  Something got to the nest and we found the nest and eggs on the ground.  But, anyways, the above photo put a big smile on my face!:-)

You still with me?  I have to tell ya I had quite a scare this
morn when I saw this creature in my yard....

What is really funny is that I nearly picked it up thinking that it was a stick!  Shadow stuck his nose to it and I screamed...hehehe!  I realized it wasn't a stick when it moved.  That is a lesson learned to put my glasses on when on my nature walk in the back yard!:-)

OK...just a couple more photos.  I planted lots of  flowers yesterday.  It was a perfect day to plant flowers.  Just a tad warm, but so happy I got them done and did not wait until today, which is so humid.  Here are some of the flowers around my yard...

Hanging basket that we can enjoy while on
our deck.

I planted four dozen geraniums around the house in pots.  I also planted one dozen dahlias.  The hosta plants in between the pots are coming up beautifully!  I'll take more flower photos later when my roses bloom.  I just hope the darn little rabbits don't get to my hostas as they did last year!

And, last but not least here is a pic of my sweet dog, Shadow, who saved me from the snake...lol!

Thanks so much for visiting here today and taking the time
to view all my photos!  Take care, hugs!:-)

Paper Sweeties May Release Rewind!!!

Hi Friends!

It's May Release Rewind for Paper Sweeties!  So many wonderful stamp sets released this month.  They are now available for purchase!  The stamp set that is new for the month that I used on this card are the sentiments.  I used this set previously a couple days ago using the sentiment friend.  This set is from the You are the Most Wonderful stamp set.  If you recall, I stated that this set has so many possibilities for those special loved ones in your life.  Those wonderful people such as mother, father, husband, daughter, son, brother, sister, friend, teacher, and host.  It's definitely a stamp set that I'll use often!:-)

The sweet girl is Abigail and her dress and shoes are from the stamp set Enjoy Your Day.  For my card I started with a white card base and used some lovely paper from Echo Park!  I colored Abigail and paper pieced her dress and shoes.  I made a little hair bow using felt and added glitter and tied it with pearl cotton.  And, do you see that little crocheted flower?  Uh huh, I made it all by myself!  I finally found some great easy instructions to follow at this site...Scrapbookandcardstoday.  I used pearl cotton and a small crochet hook 4/3.50MM.  You'll be seeing more of my little crocheted flowers on future projects!:-)

Whew, sorry for the long post!  Please stop over at Paper Sweeties blog to check out the awesome creations from the design team!

Paper Sweeties May Release Day!!!

Hi Friends!

Today is Paper Sweeties Release Day!  I want to share with you a project I made using the new May stamp sets.  They are available for purchase today!  The sweet little bird on the perch is from the stamp set, Sending SpringtimeThe sentiment is from the stamp set, Make Today Beautiful.  And, the shingles were stamped using the rectangle shape from the set, Fun Shapes.  Here is a closer look of the shingles...

Isn't that a pretty pattern?  Lots of cutting and stamping for those shingles, but it was well worth it!   If you look close, you can see little bird eggs in the nest.  I colored them with a copic marker.

I started with a wood bird house from Jo-Ann Fabrics and painted it brown.  I used my glue gun to adhere the sentiment, bird, flowers, nest, and Spanish moss.  Seam Binding(Paper Sweeties) was added to finish off my project.

Thank you dear friends for dropping by today to see my project for Paper Sweeties!  Please visit the Paper Sweeties blog to see awesome inspiration from the design team!

Just look at that sweet Emma peeking from the window with her new spring dress on! I paper pieced and colored her.  I added a little tiny heart brad to her dress.  The dress, flowers, and sentiments are from the new stamp set Live Love Grow!

The card began with a white card base.  The window die is from Taylored Expressions.  The grass die is from MFT.  I paper pieced the flower pots and popped them up for  dimension.  Little heart brads were added to the centers.  Tiny white hearts were added to the pots.  A heart border punch to the center of the card along with gems to finish off the card.

Another year older...

Hi Friends!

Are you having a wonderful weekend?  I certainly hope you are!  Happy Mother's Day to you!:-)

I just want to share with you a card I made for a challenge over at the The Shabby Tea Room!  It's been awhile since I entered a card over at one of my favorite challenges.  One of the fun things I like to do is incorporate texture on my card, so I couldn't pass up this challenge.  I think it all went together well with the monochromatic color scheme and added embellishments for a masculine birthday card.

The challenge called for dry embossing and stitching.  I did get carried away and before I knew it I covered up the dry embossing on the cream colored paper.  I just kept adding different patterned papers.  You can see just a tad of the embossing peeking out.  There is stitching around the numbered paper and on the embossed paper, too.  I distressed around the edges and time piece with ink.  Burlap and trims were added for more texture.  Buttons and brads were added for the final touch.

Whatever you do today to celebrate this special day, I hope it's a great one!  It's a bittersweet day for me since recently my dear sweet Mother passed away only one month ago, but I hold on to precious memories close to my heart!  Here is a photo of my Mother last year celebrating Mother's Day...

On a happier note, my sweet son is here to visit and got me a wonderful basket filled with Bath & Body Works
goodies!:-)  Here is a photo of me and my sweet son...

Hello...

Hello my crafty friends!

Just popping in to share a card with you that I made
for my sister.  I needed to send some photos to her, so
I made this card to help protect the photos.  But, mostly
I just wanted to make a card for my sis.:-)  I'm entering
this card over at Simon Says Stamp.   The theme is
for a non occasion card.  I need more cards like
these to store in my stash.:-)

For my card I started with Island Indigo card base.  I
used some pretty Prima paper for the floral background.
The stamp is from SU(Elementary Elegance).  Love this
stamp since it has such a pretty frame.  And, you
can insert any sentiment within the frame.  Sweet seam
binding ribbon from Paper Sweeties.  I topped off the
card with a bright button and gems.

Well, today is my cleaning day and I have more work
to do.  Thank you so much for dropping by.  I hope
you have a wonderful crafty weekend!  Take care,
hugs!

Paper Sweeties Sketch #7

Hi there!

It's time for the monthly challenge over at Paper Sweeties!
Are you creating any wedding and anniversary
cards needed for friends and family for this time of
year?  Well, I needed an anniversary card for a friend's
25th wedding anniversary!  And, I cannot wait to see her
expression when she sees this card.  She is one of my
crafty friends who enjoys making cards, too!:-) So, I
know she'll appreciate all the love I put into making
this card!

I started with a pink card base.  I used Sissix heart dies
for the focal point.  A doily from Martha Stewart was
placed behind the pink heart.  Glitter flowers and birds
were placed.  The numbers are from Paper Sweeties
using the stamp set Fancy Monograms.  This set is a
must have for your crafting needs!  The set includes
numbers and letters.  And, doesn't it add an elegant
touch?  The sentiment is from the stamp set
Make Today Beautiful.  For the finishing touches
I added ribbon, flowers, border, pearls and button.

Ok friends, time to get back to the craft table to
make more cards!  Can you believe it's the first
of May today?  I think the whole month of April
was a blur for me.  More signs of spring are seen
here and there, which is a welcome since spring
is very late this year.  But, with warmer temps
and beautiful flowers it certainly puts a big smile
on my face!:-)

Please go on over and see what the Paper Sweeties
gals came up with for your inspiration for this monthly
challenge!  You will be guaranteed awesome
inspiration!  Do take care and have fun creating!

Hugs!
